性味归经
《本草新编》：味甘，性温。
入肝、肾经。
滋阴，补血。治阴虚血少，腰膝痿弱，劳嗽骨蒸，遗精，崩漏，月经不调，消渴，溲数，耳聋，目昏。
①《珍珠囊》：大补血虚不足，通血脉，益气力。
②王好古：主坐而欲起，目琉琉无所见。
③《纲目》：填骨髓，长肌肉，生精血，补五脏、内伤不足，通血脉，利耳日，黑须发，男子五劳七伤，女子伤中胞漏，经候不调，胎产百病。
④《本草从新》：滋肾水，封填骨髓，利血脉，补益真阴，聪耳明目，黑发乌须。又能补脾阴，止久泻，治劳伤风痹，阴亏发热，干咳痰嗽，气短喘促，胃中空虚觉馁，痘证心虚无脓，病后胫股酸痛，产后脐腹急疼，感证阴亏，无汗便闭，诸种动血，一切肝肾阴亏，虚损百病，为壮水之主药。
Shu Di Huang is sweet and slightly warm, and enters the Kidney and Liver meridians. It is the most important herb for tonifying the blood as well as tonifying the Kidney-essence. Since its function is strong and quick, it can be used as deputy in the formula to treat severe deficiency of the Yin and essences.
